Des Moines Schools International Baccalaureate Focus Areas
The DMPS IB Focus Areas were developed by Des Moines Public Schools and are derived from the International Baccalaureate Standards and Practices. The seven IB Focus Areas were determined through the categorization of IB Standards and Practices and set the standard for a high-quality IB education at DMPS. This tool can be used to support articulation of IB teaching and learning, professional development, monitoring of implementation, and reflection. Individual Focus Areas include reference to specific IB standards and practices, a desired result of implementation, examples of student evidence, and teacher action. In addition to the resources below, other tools to support coaching for implementation around the DMPS IB Focus Areas are also available.
